About the Role
You will guide clients on ingredient compliance for regions such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the EU. Many tasks revolve around GRAS, EFSA novel food, Health Canada novel food rules and similar programs. You will prepare technical dossiers, review scientific papers and explain safety data in a clear manner. You will also help shape regulatory paths based on client goals.
Key tasks include.
• Prepare technical dossiers for toxicology and safety reviews across many regions.
• Support health claim work by reviewing research and clinical trial summaries.
• Help prepare Self Affirmed GRAS and EFSA and Health Canada novel food submissions.
• Support work related to food additives, feed additives and ingredient NPNs.
• Research intake values and summarize past safety data for new substances.
• Work with clients and internal staff to keep each project moving on time.
• Work with agencies when questions arise.
• Help recruit GRAS expert panel members when needed.
• Suggest regulatory paths that match client needs.
• Write short blogs for the company on simple regulatory topics.
Required Skills and Experience
This role requires strong research skills and comfort with science based writing.
Main needs include.
• A science degree or a regulatory affairs diploma from a Canadian school.
• One to seven years in a consulting or toxicology setting.
• Comfort with FEMA GRAS, FDA letters and EFSA or UK novel food work is helpful.
• Ability to search literature using PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar or NMCD.
• Strong English writing and reading skills.
• Skill using internet search tools, Word and Excel.
• Good grammar skills and clear communication.
• Comfort with medical and regulatory terms.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Ability to learn new rules quickly.
• Able to work alone with little oversight.
• Able to manage many tasks at once and meet deadlines.
• Careful attention to detail.
• Experience with international regulatory work in the USA, UK, EU or South America is helpful.
