About the Role

The Construction Operator – Travel serves as a working supervisor for crews of 5 to 15 employees, focusing primarily on earthwork and concrete scopes within industrial construction projects. In addition to crew management, this position assists the superintendent in all aspects of project execution, including site inspections, documentation, and addressing jobsite issues. The ideal candidate will be capable of coaching and leading field personnel, reading and executing construction drawings, and maintaining strict adherence to Kelley Construction and client safety standards. This role requires flexibility, the ability to travel extensively, and physical stamina to work in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Kelley Construction quality standards.
  • Enforce safety programs, rules, and procedures; ensure all employees use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain proper jobsite housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Serve as the assistant to the superintendent, helping manage day-to-day project activities.
  • Identify, address, and correct jobsite issues while working alongside the crew.
  • Support superintendent with documentation, including reports, inspection logs, timesheets, and drawing updates.
  • Operate, supervise, and train crew members on form carpentry, concrete finishing, and mobile equipment operations.
  • Travel to project sites as required, up to 100% of the time.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Extensive experience in form carpentry, concrete finishing, or mobile equipment operation within industrial construction.
  • Ability to coach, lead, and direct construction crews effectively.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and executing construction drawings, specifications, and work plans.
  • Eligible for Transportation Worker Industry Card (TWIC) from the Department of Homeland Security.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required.
  • Comfortable using web-based apps; Procore experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 90 lbs, bend, climb, stoop, and work in varying weather and industrial conditions.
