About the Role

The AP English Teacher will teach Global Perspectives and English Language Arts to students in Grades 10 to 12, while also delivering AP courses to Grades 11 and 12. This role requires strong mastery of the AP curriculum, a clear understanding of international teaching standards, and the ability to guide students through advanced academic pathways. The teacher will develop lesson plans, create course syllabi, prepare students for AP examinations, and maintain a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and academic confidence. The position requires effective communication with parents, strong classroom management, and active participation in school activities and professional training.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Global Perspectives, English Language Arts, and assigned AP courses according to the school timetable.
  • Deliver international curricula such as AP and A-Level while ensuring alignment with school standards.
  • Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and course syllabi that meet academic requirements and support student success.
  • Strengthen students’ foundational knowledge in relevant subject areas and prepare them for AP, Pre-AP, and other standardized assessments.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and maintain a productive, safe, and student-focused learning environment.
  • Submit syllabi and instructional plans to the department head by the required deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through reports, email, or WeChat, addressing academic concerns when necessary.
  • Provide support for extracurricular activities, events, and school-based academic initiatives.
  • Complete forty working hours per week, including teaching hours, office hours, meetings, and planning sessions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, professional development programs, and team-building activities.
  • Provide reference letters and guidance for students applying to universities.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by school administrators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, history, government, public policy, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • TESL, TEFL, TESOL, or a government-issued teaching license or credential is required.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in international curricula such as AP, A-Level, or IB.
  • Preferably AP certified and capable of interdisciplinary teaching such as French, Spanish, Latin, or biology.
  • Strong classroom management ability and experience organizing extracurricular activities.
  • Native English speaker with strong subject knowledge, a clear pronunciation standard, and an interest in long-term collaboration.
