Key Responsibilities
This position leads control retrofit work for turbine systems. You guide installation, site checks, start up tasks and handover steps. Much of the work centers on Mark V, Mark VI and Mark Vie control units. You also support HMI changes and TIL work at active plants. Each site task needs clear planning and close contact with field teams, plant staff and GE teams.
You carry out site management tasks. You guide field engineers, support safety needs and help solve issues as they come up. You respond to plant calls, check system faults and guide the team through fixes. You support warranty needs and help clients during and after service.
You set up site plans before travel. You build the schedule, track field needs and check hardware and software items for the project. You guide power up steps and ensure each stage meets safety and quality rules. You also review the handover package and give a clear summary once the job ends.
You work with project managers, plant staff and vendor teams. You track cost, watch time use and help keep each job within scope. You help note change order needs and support new job reviews. You may join site tests, hardware review tasks, control strategy checks and HMI design work when needed.
You complete all records after each trip. This includes time sheets, site notes, reports and billing files. You join calls before and after each trip and follow all GE work rules. You may also be asked to support other GE groups for special tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
You need a degree in industrial automation, electrical engineering or electronic engineering. A high school diploma or GED with at least four years of strong field experience will also work. You must have at least four years of field work in power plants, industrial systems or control units. Work with DCS units, PLCs or plant control systems is helpful.
You need strong problem solving skills for control and instrument systems. You must be able to look at field devices, panels, network paths and system parts to find faults. You must be able to speak with clients in a clear way and earn trust at each stage. Good computer skills and strong English skills are required.
You need applied knowledge in turbine control or related areas. This includes steam turbine control, combustion turbine control, hydro turbine units, excitation systems, generator safety systems and plant BOP units. You need to read and use mechanical and electrical drawings with ease.
You must hold a valid driver’s license and passport or be able to get both. You must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and work in tight areas. Many sites include hot or cold zones, high areas or radiation-controlled rooms. You must be able to pass all site safety checks, respirator tests and duty exams. Long site hours may be needed for some jobs.
Desired Skills
Hands on field service work is helpful. Work with prime mover units and control parts is a plus. Basic electrical or mechanical repair skills help you solve on site issues. You should know MS Office and basic TCP or IP tasks. Some tools used are Cimplicity, Intellution, Toolbox and GAP, and you should be open to learning them. One year of nuclear plant work is helpful.
Pay and Benefits
This role pays between $100,500 and $167,400 a year. Pay may shift based on region and skills. The role offers medical, dental, vision and drug coverage.
