Role Overview

The Product Licensing Director will guide strategy and direction for the company’s licensing work for nuclear products. This includes new plant efforts, new product needs, fuel facility work and proposals tied to regulatory tasks. You will help speed up the licensing needed for new plant builds, new services and outage support. You will also guide the licensing path for advanced systems like the BWRX 300 small modular reactor.

This is a senior role that covers leadership, guidance and planning. You will work with many teams, set clear goals and help make sure all licensing efforts meet the standards of nuclear regulators in the United States and other countries.

Main Responsibilities

You will lead long term planning for product licensing efforts. You will help direct the licensing work for new nuclear plants and new technologies. You will support the vision of the Regulatory Affairs group and make sure the work supports business goals.

You will serve as the main point of contact with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other nuclear regulators across the world. You will also build strong working ties with other Plant Licensing Directors, Product Directors and groups across engineering, quality and other departments.

The role also needs deep knowledge of rules used by the U.S. NRC and other regulators. You will watch for new rules and changes that may affect product work and make sure the company knows and manages these changes. When issues come up, you will help direct resolution of licensing and compliance concerns.

You will review licensing choices, guide the team on what path makes sense and help the company pick the safest and most effective route. You will also guide how the Regulatory Affairs group works with other GE Vernova teams.

You will handle work with groups such as NEI, INPO, IAEA and WNA. You will help set direction for new build projects and make sure each project stays on time and in budget. You will work with licensing managers, engineers and project managers on daily and long term tasks.

You will keep and maintain licensing basis documents and records. You will help manage inspections and audits tied to nuclear rules. You will need working knowledge of the BWRX 300 design, its licensing path and its risks.

You will also lead process improvement efforts. These efforts will help lower costs, reduce delays and make licensing work easier across future product lines.

Required Qualifications

You must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited school. You need at least ten years of work in nuclear design, plant operation or nuclear licensing. You must have at least eight years of leadership experience with a wide scope of duties. You must be willing to travel when needed.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a site security clearance. This includes background checks as required by the NRC. Moving to Wilmington, North Carolina is preferred for this job.

Desired Characteristics

Helpful skills include experience working with regulatory or government groups. Knowledge of 10 CFR Parts 21, 50 and 52 is helpful. The company values strong nuclear safety culture, clear respect for concerns and steady communication.

You should understand how changes in rules may impact the business or customers. Global regulatory experience is strongly valued. A master’s degree in science or engineering is an added benefit.

Pay and Benefits

Pay for this role ranges from 150,900 to 289,200 USD each year. Pay may increase based on location according to set company rules. Workers may earn an annual bonus.
