About the role
The Assistant Director for Member Relations supports institutions across the western states and helps guide outreach strategy for the region. You will work closely with the Director for U.S. Member Relations and will take part in growth plans that aim to expand engagement, especially in California. You will also serve as the primary contact for assigned member universities and will guide them through program delivery, recruitment efforts, and membership expectations.
The role is a blend of strategic planning, campus outreach, data review, and student-focused advising. You will help strengthen relationships with coordinators and other staff who support study abroad. You will also work with internal teams to ensure consistent support across the network.
Regional leadership and growth efforts
You will help set direction for the western region and support outreach that highlights high-potential partnerships. You will study trends within California and other western states to understand where new engagement may grow. You will also support on-site presence at affiliate campuses and help guide strategies that lead to more student participation.
The role includes close work with the Director of Affiliate Engagement. You will help increase visibility on campuses and promote ISEP’s offerings through visits, meetings, and campus events. You will also support a plan focused on Hispanic Serving Institutions and help shape materials and programs that match their needs.
University relations and advising
A major part of the role is oversight of assigned universities. You will guide coordinators through processes, support their recruitment plans, and help maintain membership standards. You will offer training for new staff and refreshers for returning staff. You may visit campuses to meet partners, talk with students, and take part in fairs or advising sessions.
You will help build recruitment strategies that reflect each campus’s culture and program needs. You will also review mobility goals and help universities reach their targets. This includes gathering feedback, checking trends, and shaping advice built on clear data.
Program quality and member expectations
You will monitor the quality of program delivery and help resolve issues raised by coordinators, students, or internal teams. You will assess membership concerns and guide next steps when standards are not met. You may work with Student Services to help address student satisfaction and ensure a smooth experience before, during, and after study abroad.
You will help maintain health and safety practices, review plans for the region, and support responses to emergencies when needed. You may also join the emergency phone rotation, which reaches beyond normal work hours.
Data, systems, and internal tools
The role requires steady use of ISEP’s enrollment and program tools. You will update member profiles, check program details, edit information for the student website, and help track chances of placement. You will also review CRM data to understand patterns and adjust regional plans.
You will offer feedback to the Marketing and Communications team so they can build materials that match campus needs. You may also work with the Academic Strategy and Program Development team to request research and help guide new program ideas.
Collaboration and outreach
You will take part in cross-regional meetings to support quality across all locations. You may help supervise student workers for selected institutions and will join conferences and events to build awareness of ISEP. This part of the work helps communicate the value of global learning and keeps the network engaged.
Travel depends on the academic calendar and other deadlines. Some seasons require more movement across campuses to build momentum and maintain partner relationships.
