Job Description
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant will support the planning, implementation, and assessment of projects by collecting data, monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Collection & Entry
-Collect data from field activities (surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.).
-Enter and clean data in databases or spreadsheets.
Monitoring Project Activities
-Track the implementation of project activities to ensure they align with project plans and indicators.
-Support in updating project monitoring frameworks (e.g., logical frameworks, result frameworks).
Reporting & Documentation
-Assist in preparing regular progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
-Maintain proper documentation of M&E tools and results.
Support Evaluations
-Help in organizing evaluations (baseline, midline, endline).
-Assist consultants or evaluators during field visits or assessments.
Capacity Building
-Support training sessions for staff or partners on M&E tools and techniques.
Database Management
-Maintain and update M&E databases.
-Ensure data quality and integrity.
Other Duties
-Provide general administrative support for the team.
-Participate in project review meetings and provide input based on findings.
Qualifications and Experience
A relevant bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics or a related field. Certification in Project and Program Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage.
Experience
1–2 years of experience in M&E or data-related roles, preferably in development contexts particularly adolescents and youth programming. Experience with data collection methods and tools.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of M&E frameworks (e.g., logical frameworks, Theory of Change).
Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, or KoboToolbox) is a plus.
Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel to field sites when required.
