About the Role

• As a Test Automation Engineer in the Payments team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring quality and stability in one of Capitec’s most business-critical areas. You’ll contribute to delivering secure, reliable payment systems by designing and implementing both manual and automated test scenarios throughout the SDLC.
• You’ll be joining a dynamic team that values collaboration, initiative, and continuous improvement. While manual testing still forms part of the process, your automation expertise will help move the team forward on its test maturity journey. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in evolving environments and is passionate about embedding quality across all layers of the software lifecycle.

Our Ideal candidate has:

• A completed qualification in software testing (ISTQB Foundation preferred)
• 3–5 years’ experience in automation testing (framework design, scripting, execution)
• Proficiency with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, BrowserStack, Postman, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab Solid understanding of the full SDLC, integration/regression testing, and test case design
• Exposure to API, performance, or security testing
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a quality-first mindset
• A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• Software Testing – Foundation Level through the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB)
