Minimum Requirements

  • A Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification.
  • An NQF Level 6 qualification in Supply Chain Management or Finance will serve as an added advantage.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in asset management.
  • A valid driver’s license (advantageous).
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Knowledge and experience in using the SAP system.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Knowledge of PFMA, Supply Chain Management procedures, and legislative frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, client service, and customer orientation skills.
  • High standards of accountability and ethical conduct.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work under pressure and travel when required.
  • Basic understanding of work procedures in the relevant operational environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and render asset management clerical functions in line with departmental policies.
  • Ensure that all movable assets are procured in compliance with PFMA and SCM procedures.
  • Capture new assets in the Asset Register immediately after acquisition.
  • Assign unique asset numbers, barcodes, and serial numbers for traceability.
  • Conduct annual physical verification of all movable assets across Central Operations Area Offices.
  • Reconcile physical asset counts with the Asset Register and investigate discrepancies (missing, damaged, or unrecorded assets).
  • Assign custodianship of assets to responsible officials and ensure accountability forms are signed.
  • Record and update information on movement, transfer, or relocation of assets between offices/workshops.
  • Maintain accurate and updated records of asset locations and custodians.
  • Process transfer/relocation forms with proper approvals and update the Asset Register accordingly.
  • Ensure prompt reporting of theft, loss, or damage to movable assets.
  • Maintain a Loss Control Register in line with departmental and Treasury regulations.
  • Submit loss or damage cases to the security vetting section for recommendations on write-offs, recoveries, or disciplinary action.
  • Identify redundant, obsolete, or unserviceable assets for collection and transfer to disposal stores.
  • Facilitate disposal using approved methods such as auction, transfer to other departments, donations, or recycling.

Note: Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical test during the interview process.
