Solutions and Continuous Improvement Engineer

Job Description:

  • The primary goal is to optimize processes, increase productivity, and enhance efficiency at client sites in alignment with business objectives. This will be achieved by minimizing waste, streamlining workflows, and reducing delays, resulting in improved operating performance.
  • Furthermore, the role will focus on developing growth-driven solutions that not only improve current processes but also create new opportunities for revenue generation.
  • The job purpose will emphasize innovation and cost-consciousness, with a focus on delivering value to clients while maintaining profitability for the business.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Experience:

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a Continuous improvement or process optimisation environment.
  • Experience in Production and Packaging, Warehousing, and Logistics/ FMCG and/or similar industries is essential.
  • Yellow belt in six sigma advantageous
  • Project management principles advantageous
  • Knowledge of processes simulation and Business Process Mapping (BPM) principles

Minimum Qualification: 

  • Degree in Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering
  • Project management qualification advantageous

Additional Requirements:

In Addition: –

  • Valid driver’s license and own car essential

Roles and Responsibilities:

Process Optimization and Design

  • Assess and analyze client processes to identify areas of inefficiencies.
  • Lead process optimization and Continuous improvement projects.
  • Update processes and procedures and oversee deployment and publication of processes and procedures across the regions.
  • Apply various Industrial/Systems Engineering problem-solving principles to refine and re-engineer business processes to enhance customer experience and business profitability.
  • Design production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Provide input into the documentation, formalization and validation of the to-be concept and design proposals.
  • Define process performance criteria and requirements in terms of business-centric & customer-centric measures (e.g.: Time, cost, value, response time etc.)
  • Proactively participate in business improvement forums and change initiatives.
  • Facilitate and integrate process optimization & process designs initiatives amongst role-players.

Business Analysis

  • Perform business impact analysis in liaison with line managers on any change that is imposed on the current operational environment.
  • Measure and baseline all current main value chains’ performance and comparison of the to–Be process performance.
  • Apply basic methodologies to identify bottom line and economic profit enhancement & optimization opportunities.
  • Deliver quantifiable savings & benefits, in line with improved customer experience, through projects.
  • Support the Operations team on collection and analysis of all metrics related to projects and the production of agreed format reports for the monthly business reviews.
  • Facilitate and conduct sessions with cross-functional role players to design, develop, and review processes or changes in the current operational environment.

Project Management

  • Manage and coordinate (assist in) implementation efforts of enhancements and change initiatives.
  • Deliver project objectives to achieve desired quality and impact, within the time planned and within approved budget.
  • Responsible for project stakeholder communication and management before and during the implementation.
  • Provide project management capability to set up, manage, and control projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Identify and manage work stream interdependencies, risks, and issues affecting the successful delivery of the project.

Research and Development

  • Research new Industry Trends with respect to Products, Services, Process, and Technology.
  • Lead in creating and maintaining of the Business Process Management Library.

Consulting, Coaching, and Mentoring

  • Motivate, Lead, and Direct project team members & consult with business unit managers towards achieving goals.
  • Coach and Mentor CI Graduates for the duration of their program.
  • Act as a coach to business (line managers) regarding process re-engineering and improvement methodologies and principles.
  • Share best practices both within Projects and between team members across the business.
  • Business Alignment & Subject Matter Expert (SME) inputs
  • Create & maintain synergies with various stakeholders before / during / after process re-engineering and implementation.
  • Interact and attend meetings and workshops to ensure initiative impacts are pro-actively identified so that implementation can be coordinated.
  • Present initiatives at various forums (Meetings, Adcorp Roadshows, etc).

Controls, Compliance and Administration

  • Conducting regular audits of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Ensuring that all project activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as with internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of all project activities, including project plans, status reports, and budgets.
  • Ensuring that all project documentation and data are stored securely and in compliance with Adcorp data management standards.
