Digital Strategy & Leadership 

  • Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with editorial and commercial goals. 
  • Drive digital audience growth through an effective digital strategy. 
  • Work with the sales division to maximise revenue opportunities for eNCA digital producers and offerings. 
  • Continuously monitor external and competitor landscape to identify opportunities and threats to adapt the strategy accordingly. 
  • Ensure all digital assets are aligned with eNCA editorial and brand strategy.

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Analyse audience and industry behaviour to develop, evolve and adapt eNCA’s digital offerings for maximum growth opportunities. 
  • Monitor audience behaviour to determine best practices for audience retention, growth, and engagement. 
  • Ensure SEO is optimised across all platforms to increase visibility. 
  • Develop strategies based on data, analytics, insights, and intelligence. 
  • Provide reports to senior management for strategic input. 
  • Provide feedback and reports to the editorial team to guide content and provide insights on channel growth. 
  • Develop strategies for user generated content. 
  • Develop tactics for user personalisation. 
  • Ensure engagement with the audience adheres to the channel’s guidelines and policies. 
  • Stay abreast of relevant legislations with regards to user data and other applicable policies.

Product Development & User Experience

  • Ensure all features, services and products are working as it should on the website or app. 
  • Work with relevant internal and external stakeholders to enhance the UX and user experience. 
  • Stay on top industry trends to finds new opportunities for product development. 
  • Lead decisions from front-end to back-end. 
  • Ensure industry best-practises are implemented. 
  • Streamline operations and workflow to deliver the best product possible. 
  • Use appropriate tools to enhance product offering.

Data, Analytics & Performance 

  • Direct, implement and oversee data collection. 
  • Create a culture of data-lead decisions. 
  • Lead data sharing across all applicable teams. 
  • Interpret data and analytics to make real-time decisions to improve and enhance the digital offerings. 
  • Provide senior management with reports to inform strategic decisions.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead the digital team. 
  • Foster a culture of high-performance and excellency. 
  • Mentor the team to grow skills and knowledge. 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to deliver the best possible digital products. 
  • Create and lead a culture of “digital first” across the business. 
  • Create efficient and productive workflows. 
  • Drive a culture of open and clear communication. 
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to create content or improve on eNCA’s digital offerings.

Strategy 

  • Develop Digital Strategy with quarterly updates on progress. 
  • Ensure the digital department is fully equipped to execute the strategy. 
  • Execute quarterly marketing brand campaigns to drive brand visibility and growth. 
  • Establish eNCA’s digital platforms as a leader in online new publishing. 
  • The strategy must be audience first with the drive of commercialization. 
  • Strategy must focus on both local and international growth.

Content and Platforms 

  • Launch new website aligned with strategy. 
  • Launch new app aligned with strategy. 
  • Develop content style guides and ensure adherence. 
  • Develop content publishing calendars and ensure adherence. 
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable legislations, policies, and guidelines. 
  • Ensure internal stakeholders adhere to digital content and platform strategies. 
  • Develop and deploy strategies to optimize platforms, 
  • Develop and oversee content calendar at large, ensuring the News and Lifestyle teams delivers accordingly.

Audience

  • Establish audience growth benchmarks. 
  • Develop strategy to grow audience accordingly. 
  • Develop specific segmentation strategies per audience to optimize content and commercial opportunities. 

Human Resources

  • Lead the digital team to establish and grow digital operations and productivity. 
  • Ensure the team is fully resourced and equipped.  
  • Develop holistic team workflows to achieve optimal productivity. 
  • Establish workflows, processes, systems standards for the rest of the company to adhere to. 
  • Mentor junior team members. 
  • Ensure team has the necessary skillset, and where short, put in place training and development programs. 
  • Accountable for KPAs, KPIs, performance contracts and performance management of the entire digital team. 
  • Manage conflict, complaints, and suggestions as to not hinder productivity. 
  • Develop and implement personal development plans for the team. 
  • Manage all Human Resources requests, such as but not limited to leave requests.

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong network with industry experts and companies at both a national and international level. 
  • Seek opportunities to distribute content to a wider network. 
  • Seek opportunities to monetize content. 
  • Frequently engage with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across the company. 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Division to deliver marketing campaigns. 
  • Work closely with the TV division to leverage content and other applicable opportunities. 
  • Facilitate weekly/monthly stakeholder check-ins, networking events.
  • Build, support and maintain interpersonal and team relationships to ensure stable working environment and achievement of team objectives. 
  • Seek partner opportunities to expand content offering.

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • ​​National Senior Certificate​ is Essential
  • National Diploma in Management and/or Digital is Essential
  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism is Essential

Experience 

  • 8 years in Journalism, Media, or Digital Newsroom and/or related field is Essential
  • 5 years Supervisory experience in Journalism, Media, or Digital Newsroom and/or related field is Essential
  • Drivers Licences is Recommended
