JOB SUMMARY
- To coordinate and execute the care of patients within the scope of Life Support scope of practice
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Matric
- Intermediate Life Support (ILS) qualification
- Pre-hospital Trauma Life support certification
- Valid PrDP permit
- Registered with the HPSCA as an ILS
- Emergency rescue and stabilization
- In-depth knowledge of life saving medical procedures
- Comprehensive understanding of emergency medicine
- Oral Communication
- Customer Service
- Advanced driving
- Intermediate / pre-hospital trauma care
- General sick-call procedures Proficient
- 2 years’ experience in the medical field as an ILS medic 2 years in a leadership role
DELIVERABLES
- Ensure patient treatment according to the HPCSA scope of practice, protocols and guidelines
- Responding and staffing ambulances and ither emergency vehicles
- Assessing patients and providing emergency treatment
- Making diagnoses within the scope of practice
- Ensuring safe transportation of patients to hospitals and administering emergency medicine
- Handover patients to staff at medical facilities
- Completion of Declaration of Death forms as per standard operating procedures
- Ensure all work is done per standard operating procedures
- Oversee scene management as required at mass casualty incidents
- Conduct daily vehicle maintenance and inspection
- Ensure all patient report forms are completed correctly and are up to standard
- Facilitate collection of medical reports, records and other relevant forms
- Responsible for the care and proper management of Emergency Medical resources
- Provide quality assurance to first responders and Basic Life support medics
