Forensic Investigator

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for conducting forensic investigations pertaining to incidents of fraud, corruption and maladministration in the affairs of eThekwini Municipality, Municipal Entities i.e. Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) and Durban Marine Theme Park (uShaka Marine World) from inception to conclusion using fraud examination processes that includes among other things, acquisition of evidence, reporting, testifying to findings and assisting in fraud detection and prevention.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Responsible for planning and executing forensic investigations.
  • Conduct forensic investigations plans.
  • Undertake the process of gathering information and relevant evidence.
  • Undertake a detailed examination and analysis of gathered information and relevant evidence.
  • Prepare quality report.
  • Undertake fraud prevention activities in line with the Fraud Prevention Strategy.
  • Disseminates functional and operational information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and current applications and constraints.
  • Attend to specific administrative activities.
  • Keeping abreast of new developments, techniques and control codes in the forensic investigation profession and further the development of the profession.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Forensic Investigations or Law or Auditing or Policing or equivalent.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 3 years experience in fraud investigations.

Preferred Requirements

  • Degree (NQF Level 7) in Forensic Investigations or Law or Auditing or Policing or equivalent.
  • Membership and certification with the relevant professional body i.e. ACFE, ICFP or Ethics Institute.
  • 4 years experience in fraud investigations.
