Description

• Manage the Research Farm to ensure that research projects are run according to Researcher’s requirements and generate income from commercial blocks initiatives.
• Ensure Farm Foremen, Supervisors and Personnel complete their tasks according to set guidelines and provide guidance where necessary.
• Compile and manage annual budget.
• Manage performance of personnel and exercise discipline where necessary.
• Market commercial products to maximise income.
• Participate on Institute committees including Farm Management Committee and OHS Committee.
• Manage farm machinery and equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repairs when necessary.
• Operate farm machinery.
• Take lead during emergencies like veld or vegetation fires.
• Work abnormal hours due to operational requirements.

Requirements

• A National Diploma in Agriculture/ Horticulture or equivalent with seven years’ experience in plant production.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
• Operate without supervision.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of Global gap Accreditation Scheme.
• Ability to adapt to working on adverse weather condition for long hours.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence.
