Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
- To ensure that all electrical (HT & LT) and mechanical equipment and machines are in safe working condition and maintained according to all regulations.
- To be appointed as the GMR 2.7 for Potchefstroom Campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Maintenance and contract management
- Ensure all faulty equipment are repaired to SANS regulations.
- Preventative/ reactive maintenance
- Manage work orders as per IWMS system, draft schedules and manage budgets.
- Compliance: Regular inspections on equipment
- Ensure Compliance: Do inspections and report.
- Control permit system
- Ensure all work are done according to regulations and safety requirements.
- Manage contractors, Artisans and Artisan Assistants
- Ensure all work are done by artisans and follow up and train where needed.
- Communication between user, contractor and Artisan
- Update User as per requirements and keep the systems statuses updated.
- Standby and standby generators
- React in the event of mayor failure, ensure emergency power and communicate.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to prepare planning schedules with measurable intermediate goals.
- Good verbal communication and report-writing skills.
- Computer Literacy: MS Excel and specialized programmes applicable to function.
- Advanced knowledge of infrastructure processes.
- Emergency power generation and 11000V switching OHRVS.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Enthusiastic team player with positive social & interpersonal skills.
- Able to operate with minimum supervision.
- Pro-active and innovative problem-solver.
- Resolve problems and manage personnel reporting to him/her.
Minimum requirements
- A relevant Electrical/Mechanical post-school qualification.
- A relevant accredited Trade qualification.
- Must have the relevant requirements to be appointed as GMR 2.7.
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ technical experience related to field of expertise.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
- A bachelor’s degree/Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 7) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Design/Project Management.
- Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- A government certificate of competency.
