Communication Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Museum’s communication and digital marketing strategies.
  • Create high-quality content for the Museum’s platforms – including writing articles, producing short videos and developing posts for the website, social media and print material.
  • Plan, compile and manage a monthly social media content calendar.
  • Liaise with internal departments to gather information and communicate exhibitions, research, education programmes and events accurately.
  • Coordinate communication, and reporting related to the Functions Committee.
  • Assist with photographing and documenting Museum events for use across social media, the website, newsletters and promotional material.
  • Support marketing and communication outreach initiatives, including planning, coordination and promotion of public programmes and events.
  • Assist with media liaison, including drafting media releases and responding to media enquiries when required.
  • Monitor media coverage and digital engagement, and compile basic reports as required.
  • Provide general communication and marketing support to the Marketing Division as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of a National Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field is required, along with at least three (3) years relevant experience.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital content.
  • Photography and video content creation skills. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and  deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Computer literacy, including content management systems and design tools.
  • An interest in heritage, museums, culture or the public sector will be an advantage. A valid driver’s license (Code B).

The closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday, 26 January 2026 at 12:00pm. No late applications will be accepted. Please include a signed covering letter stating the position you are applying for, a CV with a list of references and copies of your identity document, driver’s license (where applicable), and all qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will be required to bring certified copies on date of interviews. Failure to attend the interview on the date and time given will automatically disqualify the candidate. Any false information and/or misrepresentation in the application will lead to an automatic disqualification of the applicant or removal from the programme, if discovered at a later stage. The Museum also reserves the right to lay criminal charges for any suspected fraudulent activities related to this process.
