Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
  • A valid and unexpired driver’s license.
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of computer-aided applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Knowledge of legal compliance and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, technical standards, and project management principles.
  • Skills in planning, organizing, and execution of civil maintenance and repair work.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Strong team leadership, creativity, and self-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated customer focus, responsiveness, and financial and people management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Africa for work-related duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the technical design, production, and maintenance of civil engineering services.
  • Oversee and ensure designs and fabrications are completed according to specifications and production capabilities.
  • Produce and repair civil structures and facilities in accordance with recognized standards and job specifications.
  • Supervise the maintenance, servicing, and repairs of civil infrastructure in line with schedules and regulations.
  • Manage and update records of maintained and repaired faults.
  • Compile and submit technical reports as required.
  • Contribute inputs to the civil maintenance plan and support project implementation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform administrative functions related to maintenance planning and reporting.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff within the section to ensure effective human capital management.
  • Plan and allocate resources, schedule maintenance work, and monitor execution for quality and timeliness.
