Requirements and Expectations

Minimum Requirements

  • A Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Previous working experience in administration or transport management will serve as an added advantage.
  • The disclosure of a valid, unexpired driver’s license will serve as an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of clerical functions, administrative practices, and data capturing.
  • Understanding of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), financial systems (e.g., PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS), and transport procedures within the public sector.
  • Familiarity with administrative procedures and the legislative framework governing public service operations.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ethical conduct, accountability, and client-focused service orientation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and ensure compliance with transport management directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Process new subsidized vehicle applications and administer them for the Adjudication Committee.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, oversee utilization and maintenance, and process related claims.
  • Manage and control the fleet and departmental vehicles, including operational oversight.
  • Administer transport invoices and prepare monthly transport reports.
  • Ensure quality assurance of log sheets for subsidized vehicles and maintain accurate records and registers.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system and tracking mechanisms for transport documentation.
  • Liaise with service providers and the regional office on transport management issues.
  • Provide advisory support to officials and management on transport-related matters.
  • Handle accident reports and assist with the coordination of transport meetings.
  • Perform driver duties and other administrative support tasks when required.

  • Candidates may be required to complete a practical and theoretical test as part of the selection process.
