Grounds Equipment Operators x2
- The Department of Landscape in the Directorate of Building and Estate seeks to appoint Grounds Equipment Operators X 2. This is a one year fixed-term contract at the Giyani Campus.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Applicants are required to submit together with the CVs, a standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications and Identity Document. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Candidates may be subjected to appropriate psychometric testing and other selection instruments. Applicants who previously applied are encouraged to reapply. Kindly note that these positions are open exclusively to Limpopo Province residents therefore, applicants primarily residing in the said Province will be given priority.
Key performance areas/Core functions:
- Operation and maintenance requires of a variety of power-driven equipment such as specialized lawn mowing equipment and horticultural sports and turf management equipment
- Application of equipment used in grounds maintenance Practices, methods, tools and materials used in garden and landscaping work
- Safe operations and appropriate use of grounds maintenance equipment tools and machinery
- Operate power-driven equipment including tractor loader diggers (TLB) skid loaders/trenchers/rotovates/trucks and large ride-on mowers with high level skill
- Transport staff, equipments, skip bins and other materials to the work site using a truck/tractor and trailer combination where applicable.
Academic Qualification:
- NQF Level 4 (Grade 9/ABET Level 4 National Certificates)
- General Education and Training
Experience:
- One (1) year relevant experience
Other Requirements:
- Must be physically able
- Ability to read and undersatand
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements of a variety of power-driven equipment
- Knowledge of application of equipment used in grounds maintenance
- Knowledge of practices, methods, tools and materials used in gardening and landscaping work
- Knowledge of safe operation and appropriate use of grounds maintenance equipments, tools and machinery
- Knowledge of specialized lawn mowing equipment
- Knowledge of horticultural sports and turf equipment
