Key Responsibility Areas
- Lead, manage and control delivery/implementation of major capital projects and development projects.
- Reviews the Council reports and recommendations emanating from the Service Unit.
- Provides management information and guidance for the Head (Electricity) and undertakes special systems development at a high level.
- Undertakes productivity studies as directed by the Head (Electricity).
- Undertakes assessment of the end of year financial and business performance.
- Keeps abreast of the latest technology and all matters relating to project management, design, implementation, delivery and maintenance of major projects and developments.
- Assists the Head (Electricity) in executive and strategic management of the Unit and in aspects of monitoring, recording and reporting on project management, procurement and implementation processes.
- Represents the Head (Electricity) at relevant meetings, which could be at a national level.
- Oversee, facilitate, co-ordinate, identify and define the short, medium- and long-term objectives and evaluate best practices, policy prescripts and current business standards of the Unit.
- Direct and control the implementation and monitoring of complex research management processes.
- Develop strategic partnerships with international funders and researchers that will lead the Unit in being a learning institution that provides sustainable innovative and cost-effective solutions to global challenges in Electricity.
- Disseminating professional advice through assessing critical areas across function within key
- engineering approaches, principles and concept features.
- Control financial performance against Budget for projects.
- Facilitate change management processes, consulting and advising line function leadership and professionals to improve the understanding of policies relating to Electricity works.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Electrical Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Valid motor vehicle driving license.
- 6 Years relevant post registration experience.
Preferred Requirements
- 7 years relevant post qualification experience.
