Requirements
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- ECSA registered as a Professional Engineering Technician(Pr Techni Eng)
- Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience post- first
- relevant tertiary qualification, with directly applicable and acceptable experience in an electricity distribution system or public lighting environment with exposure to a wide range of technologies
- Good project management skills
- Sound knowledge of safety legislation and practice
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Problem-solving skills
- A high degree of computer literacy
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
Special conditions may include:
- Required to work in all weather conditions
- Required to work outside normal working hours as demanded by the exigencies of the service
- Required to use own transport for which an appropriate transport allowance will be payable.
Key Performance Areas
- KPA weighting will be adjusted to meet the requirements of the division (SIP, PI, PLD or SCP) where the successful candidate is placed.
- Plan, design and implement network extensions and public lightning in response to customer power supply and lighting applications (SIP, PI, PLD, SCP)
- Facilitate the establishment of residential and commercial township development (SCP, SIP, PLD)
- Facilitate the establishment of electrification projects (SIP Elec, PLD, SIP, SCP)
- Facilitate the regulation of new or upgraded embedded generation installations (SCP, SIP)
- Plan, design and implement the short to medium term development of the electricity distribution system and public lighting infrastructure (Determine conditions to be applied regarding site development plans and applications for subdivisions, rezonings and departures (SIP, SCP, PLD)
- Facilitate, comment and specify conditions pertaining to applications concerning wayleaves, land matters and building plans (SCP, PI, SIP, PLD)
- Utilise specialised as well as along with mainstream computer software to perform power system analysis studies, perform lighting designs and project management functions (SCP, PI, SIP, PLD)
- Coordinate specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the relevant key performance indicators and communicate with fellow professionals and relevant stakeholders.
