Requirements
- A relevant professional qualification within the Information and Communications Technology field
- 8 years or more relevant post qualifying experience covering all aspects of the Information and technology function with at least 3 years’ experience at management level
- Highly PC proficient
- Sound Business and IT Strategy Planning, systems installation
- and integration knowledge and experience and strong change management skills
- Sound communication skills and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Key Performance Areas
- Manages and co-ordinates health information, the related information systems, related health information technology and surveillance of communicable diseases in the City Health
- Manages the Health Information Section to provide accurate and timely health information to management for decision making and to align and monitor the departments’ contribution to the City’s requirements
- Ensures compliance with Provincial and National healthcare regulations and standards
- Manage and co-ordinates the implementation of Elula System(EMR)
Streamlines health information processes to improve efficiency, data collection, reporting, and reduce costs by:
- Implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency through the use of technology
- Monitoring and optimising the use of health information systems and technology
- Managing the budget and resources for health information services
- Co-ordinating training for Health Information Officers on all aspects of relevant Health Information and the PREHMIS application
- Monitors research in the department by keeping a record of approved requests in order to keep management informed of the number and the progress of the individual research projects
Co-ordinates health information systems design and development by:
- Coordinating the computerization of manual systems to provide ICT with the necessary information to develop an electronic system for City Health and to coordinate application software and database administration support for all appropriate users
- Co-ordinates data management and integrity ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and security of health information data
- Engages with various stakeholders inclusive of internal and external partners
