Qualification(s):

• B Sc in Electrical Engineering / B. Eng / Electronic engineering at NQF 8 with 480 credits
• ECSA Registration: Pr Eng

Related Minimum Experience

• 4 year Engineering operations and maintenance

• Communication protocols relevant to operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems e.g. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), Distributed Network Protocol (DNP3), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)101, IEC61850, Inter Control Centre Protocol (ICCP), Eskom Standard for Telecommunication (ESTEL), ESTEL Variant (EV) etc.
• Telecommunication networks e.g. Bandwidth Management Equipment (BME), Area Radio Analogue/Digital, General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Satellite, Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP)
• Telecontrol technologies e.g. Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), Fault Path Indicators (FPI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Simulator SimSCADA, Intelligent Electronic Device (IED)
• Computer networks e.g. Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN), Firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN)
• Proficient advanced Distribution Management System (DMS) tools e.g., load flow, training simulator, etc.
• ADMS integration into business systems e.g. Geographical Data Capturer (GDC), Electrical Network Schematic (ENS), Outage Management System (OMS), Integration Bus
• Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS)
• Cyber security e.g. Active Directory (AD), AntiVirus (AV), Patch Management (PM), Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), Firewall (FW)
• Management of Technology principles (MOT)

• Sound knowledge and understanding electrical plant systems, network design and operation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide planned and unplanned O&M engineering support.
• Provide a technical consulting and investigation service.
• Develop discipline-specific philosophies, technical standards, procedures, work practices and specifications.
• Develop discipline-specific vision, strategy and direction setting.
• Provide input into and conduct research.
• Represent Eskom in national and international technical forums.
• Manage and conduct product, equipment, material, service and change impact evaluations.
• Provide professional discipline specific technical leadership.
