JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

• Contribute towards effective teaching and learning in a blended learning environment.
• Assessment and moderation, including summative and formative assessments, to ensure adherence to standards and quality.
• Design and review the curriculum for blended learning courses in Sport Science and Sport Management.
• Develop online learning material according to the university and SAQA guidelines.
• Participate in national and international conferences and publish research findings in accredited journals.
• Work towards completion of a vertical qualification or post-doctoral research (as applicable)
• Mentor junior lecturers and tutors within the department through team supervision of postgraduate students.
• Participate in community engagement projects, including liaison with industry stakeholders.
• Registration for membership and/or designation status with relevant national and international sports societies.
• Display sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player.

APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualifications:
For a Senior Lecturer:

• An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation or Sport Management
• An honours degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation or Sport Management
• A master’s degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation or Sport Management
• A doctoral qualification in Sport Science, Sport Recreation Science or Sport Management

For a Lecturer:

• An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation or Sport Management
• An honours degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation or Sport Management
• A master’s degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Sport Recreation Science or Sport Management

Experience:

• At least three years of teaching experience in a higher education environment, or three years of industry experience at operational or middle management level in the Sport Management or Sport

Recreation Science domain;

• Proven experience in curriculum design.
• Proven experience in facilitation in a blended learning environment.

Added Advantage:

• Active participation in Sport federations and other sport regulatory bodies in South Africa, such as SAFA, ASA and others
• Certification with relevant professional bodies in various sporting codes
• A research record supported by accredited publications and international conference presentations would be an added advantage
• Traceable evidence of previous successful postgraduate supervision is recommended
• A completed postgraduate qualification in Higher Education would be an added advantage
