What you will enjoy doing
- Ensure all IM-PET machines operate safely, efficiently and reliably, according to recommended operating guidelines.
- Ensure quality products are being produced at all times and the process is optimized to the fullest extent.
- Ensure all raw materials required are available and defect-free before being put into the machine.
- Make minor repairs to moulding machines.
- Assist the Production Manager / Process Technicians in implementing the required training for Machine Operators
- Participate in Tool Design Reviews and recommend improvements to optimize moulding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
- Analyse and improve existing processes using production data, design of experiments, Six Sigma and other methods to improve manufacturing processes for cost reduction, and quality improvement to increase efficiencies.
- Troubleshoot moulding and manufacturing processes and material issues. Work with internal and external resources to resolve moulding and manufacturing issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Research, develop and implement manufacturing process controls, machinery modifications and improvements.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.
- The position reports directly to the Business Unit Manager
- Maintain a close relationship with the Assistant Production Manager and Maintenace Co-ordinator to ensure that all issues, including personnel and material, that can impact the performance of the plant are addressed.
- Interact with the production team and identify issues as they arise.
- Work closely with the shift QCs to approve the product quality during the first offs.
- Report technical requirements and equipment breakdowns to the Maintenance Co-ordinator and maintenance manager.

- Technical Qualification with min. 2 years of plastics processing experience (PET Preferred)
- Mechanical or Electric/Electronic systems preferred
- Ability to lead people and generate a positive team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to successfully train technical and other non-exempt personnel.
- Effective time management and task/project prioritization with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to operate forklifts and cranes.
- Proficient with computer applications (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
- High cleanliness standards for the machines and work area
- Excellent communication skills in local language and English (Read and Write)
