Job Summary
- The Maintenance Officer is responsible for coordinating and supervising all vehicle maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the company’s fleet.
- This role ensures timely repairs, effective preventive maintenance, and proper documentation of all mechanical activities across terminals and workshops.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all company vehicles.
- Monitor vehicle performance, mileage, and service schedules.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and liaise with roadside technicians.
- Supervise mechanics, electricians, and workshop activities.
- Ensure availability and proper use of tools, spare parts, and materials.
- Verify quality of parts and follow up on repairs to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts replaced, and service history.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements (VIO, FRSC, etc.).
- Work with the storekeeper to track spare parts inventory and usage.
- Make recommendations for fleet improvement and cost reduction.
Requirements
- OND / HND / B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Transport Management or related field.
- 2–5 years relevant experience in vehicle maintenance (transport/logistics industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical faults quickly.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
