- This role is ideal for someone with technical know-how, commercial acumen, and a deep interest in the maritime industry — especially those passionate about shaping the future of vessel connectivity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Technical Support:
- Act as the primary technical liaison during client engagements, from first contact through post-sale support.
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support client onboarding and implementation of maritime technologies including shipboard electronics, connectivity devices, and safety systems.
Business Development & Relationship Management:
- Build and manage strong, long-term relationships with procurement departments, technical managers, fleet operators, and shipowners.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the shipping, oil & gas, and offshore services sectors.
- Represent the company at client sites, trade shows, and industry events.
Industry Knowledge & Insight:
- Provide operational and regulatory insights that informs product development roadmap.
- Stay up to date with maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code, MARPOL) and communicate implications to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Share market intelligence and client feedback to help improve product offerings.
Technical Understanding:
- Possess or be willing to develop a strong understanding of maritime electronics including radio communications (MF/HF/VHF/UHF), navigation and positioning systems (GPS, AIS, radar), automation and surveillance, as well as onboard entertainment and integration platforms.
- Ability to discuss and troubleshoot basic technical issues with clients or internal engineers.
- Experience working with fleet management systems, safety equipment, or connectivity hardware is an advantage.
Candidate Requirements
Technical & Sales Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related technical or business field.
- Prior experience in selling or supporting technical products, especially within the marine, oil & gas, or ICT industries.
- Skilled at breaking down technical jargon and confidently presenting solutions to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to close sales, build trust with clients, and deliver commercial value.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills (both written and spoken); professional email etiquette and clear report writing.
- Natural conversationalist with strong listening and interpersonal skills.
- Self-driven, goal-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and customer support.
Desirable Extras:
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations like SOLAS will be a strong advantage.
- Comfort using tools such as CRM systems, Zoom, Teams, and cloud-based software.
- Ability to travel within Nigeria and internationally as needed.
Remuneration
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Performance bonuses and commission on sales.
- Opportunity to grow with a fast-scaling maritime technology company operating at the cutting edge of vessel connectivity in West Africa.
