Shuttle Driver

Responsible for the safe and timely movement of inbound shipments from PHC airport to delivery stations across the Eastern Region, as well as outbound shipments from the region back to PHC Airport. Ensure all transportation activities are carried out on time to meet established service level targets and maintain DHL’s operational excellence standards.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation Operations

  • Route Management: Execute scheduled transportation routes between PHC Airport and various delivery stations across the Eastern Region
  • Timely Operations: Ensure prompt resumption for duty to meet targeted origin departure and destination arrival times
  • Load Management: Ensure shipments are loaded following the “First In, Last Out” (FILO) principle to optimize delivery efficiency
  • Documentation: Verify that all vehicle movements are accompanied by duly signed Transport Documents from origin stations
  • Seal Management: Ensure vehicles are properly sealed before departing origin stations and that seal numbers are accurately recorded on transport documents

Vehicle Management & Safety

  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle checks for roadworthiness before each journey
  • Maintenance Reporting: Report any technical faults or vehicle damage immediately for timely repair
  • Vehicle Cleanliness: Ensure vehicles are kept clean and presentable at all times
  • Documentation Verification: Confirm vehicle registration and driver’s license validity before embarking on any journey
  • Asset Protection: Maintain safety and security of company properties (vehicles and shipments) entrusted to your care at all times

Service Level Management

  • KPI Achievement: Deliver domestic line haul Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in accordance with all service level agreements
  • Quality Standards: Meet service quality and productivity standards defined for the operational facility
  • Customer Excellence: Contribute to maintaining DHL’s reputation for reliable and timely delivery services
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance transportation efficiency and service delivery

Stakeholder Relations

  • Internal Coordination: Maintain cordial relationships with Airside colleagues, Service Centre (SVC) staff, DHL agencies, and onboard shuttle courier agents
  • Communication: Provide clear and timely updates on delivery status, delays, or operational issues
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with network control team members and other operational staff
  • Customer Interface: Represent DHL professionally during customer interactions and delivery activities

Compliance & Standards

  • Uniform Standards: Maintain proper appearance in DHL uniforms at all times while on duty
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all company safety policies and traffic regulations
  • Security Procedures: Follow DHL security policies and procedures for shipment handling and transportation
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with local transportation laws and DHL operational standards

Operational Coordination

  • Schedule Adherence: Follow established pickup and delivery schedules to maintain network efficiency
  • Load Planning: Coordinate with supervisors on optimal load planning and route optimization
  • Issue Resolution: Report operational challenges or delays immediately to supervisors for swift resolution
  • Emergency Response: Handle emergency situations professionally and according to established protocols

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures
  • GPS Navigation: Proficiency in using GPS and navigation systems
  • Load Handling: Knowledge of proper cargo loading and securing techniques

Experience Requirements

  • Professional Driving: Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or transportation industry
  • Commercial Transport: Experience with commercial cargo transportation
  • Customer Service: Background in customer-facing roles advantageous
  • Logistics Operations: Familiarity with courier, express delivery, or logistics operations preferred

Educational & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent
  • Driver’s License: Valid commercial driver’s license appropriate for vehicle class
  • Defensive Driving: Completion of defensive driving course preferred
  • First Aid: Basic first aid certification advantageous

Working Conditions
