Job description
Responsibilities:
- Investigations into workplace accidents, near-misses, or environmental incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensures emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergencies and are maintained.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits on construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and industry best practices.
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, including warehouse staff, drivers, and office personnel, covering topics such as fire safety, and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Use tools like Microsoft tools to monitor safety metrics, track incidents, and prepare reports on HSE performance.
- Conduct emergency drills and implement emergency response plans.
- Assist in organizing safety trainings, toolbox meetings, safety talk and onboarding sessions for new staff.
- Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote safety initiatives and ensure the integration of safety practices into daily operations.
Requirements:
- HND or bachelor’s degree in occupational HSE, Science or Social Science related Course.
- Minimum of 2 years of HSE experience, preferably in the Transportation Industry.
- Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is required.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System).
- Excellent understanding of HSE laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Ability to work independently and make strategic safety decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude.
