Risk & Control / Operations Officer
Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Operations Officer with a strong background in Risk and Control to ensure robust operational integrity and manage risks effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Controls & Trade Integrity:
- Monitor theend-to-end trade lifecycle(order capture, matching, allocation, settlement, and reporting).
- Oversee real-time trade validations, cancellations/amendments, and exception handling with minimal latency impact.
- Ensurepre- and post-trade validations(regulatory checks, limit breaches, algo behavior, duplicate order prevention).
- Coordinate with trading, quant, and dev teams toautomate and enhance control pointsin trade execution flow.
Risk Monitoring & Incident Management:
- Implement and oversee adaily control frameworkcovering reconciliations, breaks, stale positions, cash and collateral movements.
- Performdaily independent reconciliations(positions, P&L, margin, fees, capital usage) across key accounts exchanges.
- Leadincident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and log operational events in the internal risk system.
- Track and remediatenear-missesto reduce future exposure.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of statutory control reports
- Liaise with compliance and legal on new regulations and implementcontrol enhancements to remain audit-ready.
- Support firm-wide audits and regulatory inspections, providing documentation and control evidence.
Process Ownership & Change Management:
- Own high-risk operational processes (e.g., short locate, DMA flow monitoring, algo approvals).
- Partner with IT and developers todesign resilient workflows and monitoring alerts.
- Drive continuous improvement and automationto eliminate manual dependencies and operational risk.
E. Counterparty & Treasury Oversight:
- Monitor counterparty exposurelimits, collateral usage, and margin requirements across venues.
- Overseetreasury operations, ensuring real-time funding visibility and settlement coverage.
- TrackFX, funding, and cash breaksthat could impact trading continuity or P&L integrity.
Requirements
Experience:
- 5 – 7 years in operations, or risk & control roles in high-frequency trading, prop trading, hedge funds, or electronic markets.
- Proven experience supportinglow-latency trading,real-time monitoring, andpost-trade controls.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of thetrade lifecycle across asset classes(equities, options, futures, FX, crypto).
- Familiarity withtrading venue connectivity, clearing/settlement protocols, and global market infrastructures.
- Proficient inExcel, SQL, scripting (e.g., Python or VBA)for controls automation.
- Experience with systems like Bloomberg, Fidessa, FlexTrade, Broadridge, Traiana, DTCC, or similar.
Behavioral Traits:
- Exceptional attention to detail with high ownership and urgency.
- Crisis management capability – calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills (traders, tech, compliance, external vendors).
Preferred Certifications:
- FRM, PRMIA, CAIA, or relevant regulatory certifications are advantageous.
