About the Role
- OPay is seeking a dynamic and strategic Public Relations (PR) Specialist to drive our communication efforts and strengthen the company’s brand presence across Nigeria.
- The ideal candidate is a compelling storyteller with strong media connections, a passion for reputation management, and a proven ability to craft narratives that enhance visibility and trust. You’ll play a key role in shaping how millions of Nigerians experience and perceive one of Africa’s fastest-growing fintech brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated PR strategies that align with OPay’s brand and business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and key external stakeholders.
- Draft and manage high-quality content including press releases, media statements, speeches, and thought-leadership pieces.
- Lead both proactive and reactive media engagement to ensure consistent, positive brand positioning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including marketing, legal, and leadership — to protect and enhance brand reputation.
- Monitor media trends, analyze coverage, and prepare performance reports with actionable insights.
- Plan and coordinate press conferences, media roundtables, and executive interviews.
- Support crisis communication efforts with clarity, speed, and professionalism.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in public relations, preferably within fintech, technology, or fast-paced industries.
- Proven media network and a strong record of successful PR campaigns.
- Exceptional writing, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and strong project management abilities.
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
