Program Officer

Location: Value Female Network Africa HQ, Behind Federal Ministry of Agriculture, GRA, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria
Reports to: Head of Programs

The mission of Value Female Network is to ensure absolute protection of the rights and health of women and girls, build self-reliance and patriotic young people, and ultimately create a sustainable and enabling environment for growth and development across Africa.

Our vision is to protect the rights and health of women and girls and build a network of productive young people across Africa.

We are currently recruiting a skilled Program Officer who will support the organisation in expanding its impact across Africa.

Basic Function:

The Program Officer will work to coordinate all of VFN’s programs. Together with the Assistant Program Officer, they will be responsible for planning, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring program implementation across VFN implementing communities in Nigeria.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all short-term and long-term projects implemented by the organisation.
  • Develop and design new innovative projects for Value Female Network.
  • Provide support and supervision for sexual and reproductive health-related projects.
  • Prepare advocacy reports, statements, and other relevant materials related to the organisation’s activities in coordination with other members of staff.
  • Train and engage staff members in capacity-building and skill enhancement sessions.
  • Support fundraising efforts and maintain relationships with potential donors and partners.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with project partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
  • Provide technical support to the Board and prepare quarterly and annual reports.
  • Support the development of internal programme documents such as funder reports, PowerPoint presentations, manuals, and other programme-related materials.
  • Work with partners to refine proposals, monitoring and evaluation plans, and project budgets.
  • Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of VFN and donor organisations.
  • Conduct programme risk analyses and identify mitigation strategies.
  • Research and stay informed about the political and economic landscape of VFN implementing states and identify opportunities for VFN programs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Public Health, Social Sciences, or any related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a health-related NGO.
  • Strong understanding of reproductive health, gender-based violence, harmful practices, and gender equality.
  • Experience conducting human rights advocacy, research, and monitoring projects focused on the girl child.
  • Prior experience with advocacy projects, donor-funded initiatives, and grant applications.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated competence in handling advocacy projects.
  • Ability to write grant applications and develop compelling proposals.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong political judgment, ability to identify opportunities, and make assertive and sound decisions.
  • High motivation and passion for girl-child empowerment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare engaging presentations and detailed reports.
  • Ability to mobilise and work effectively with communities for social action.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency in Yoruba is desirable; proficiency in any other Nigerian language will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of hard-to-reach rural communities within Osun State.
