Procurement Officer

Job Summary

  • Provide required procurement and logistics support and ensure that the Procurement / Logistics section’s activities are timely, cost-effective, and meet customer expectations efficiently and effectively.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement/logistics plans to support business and operational needs based on requirements stated in the business plans and budgets.
  • Make recommendations for cost savings for more efficient and effective procurement/ logistics methods.
  • Manage the procurement/ logistics process to minimize additional costs (i.e. demurrage, penalties etc).
  • Execute established Procurement/ Logistics plans in line with stated policies and procedures to support operational requirements
  • Review Procurement/ Logistics procedures on an ongoing basis and make recommendations on best value options available
  • Oversee the smooth running of Edgebase’s Procurement/ Logistics processes and procedures
  • Effectively remove any obstacles to ensure optimal delivery of services to the highest standards thereby achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Undertake vendors’ performance appraisal with support on key logistic vendors
  • Liaise with Finance Department and local banks on opening of LCs for imports and payment of clearing fees and duties and collection of necessary paperwork for import/export.
  • Co-coordinate imports/exports with agents and local authorities
  • Ensure that all other statutory requirements/permits are in place prior to importation (SONCAP, NAFDAC, etc)
  • Interface regularly with Government Officials as may be required on the job
  • Verify custom clearing agents bills as well as other bills that may be presented by other stakeholders including shipping companies.
  • Produces/provides periodic updates and required management reports covering service ordering, order tracking, purchase orders and contracts, service order delivery scheduling and costs.
  • Any other duties assigned by Management

Job Specification

Academic and Professional:

  • Degree qualified in Social Sciences or related field, with certification from relevant professional bodies

Experience:

  • 5 years+ experience in relevant organization, preferably ICT environment
  • Able to interface with banks in relation to RRf, Form M,
  • Submission of Final Shipping Documents for Submission to SGS for RAR Processing,
  • Follow up with NAFDAC and DPR to accelerate issuance of relevant permits amongst others,
  • Conversant with procedure for submission of Proforma Invoices and Insurance Certificate,
  • Conversant with Logistics of expatriates- visas e.t.c. Able to manage both internal and external customers without compromising on time, budget & quality targets.
