Job Summary
The Phyto Supervisor is responsible for implementing and monitoring all phytosanitary, crop protection, and pest-management activities across the plantation. The role ensures that all crops meet required health standards, comply with regulatory guidelines, and remain free from pests, diseases, and contaminants. The position also supervises field teams, maintains accurate records, and ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations
Job Details
- Oversee daily phytosanitary and crop protection operations across the plantation.
- Monitor crops for signs of pests, diseases, weeds, and environmental stress.
- Implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs and ensure safe chemical application practices.
- Supervise field workers handling spraying, treatment, and crop protection tasks.
- Ensure compliance with government phytosanitary regulations and internal standards.
- Maintain detailed records of pesticide usage, treatments, and field observations.
- Conduct periodic pest and disease surveillance and submit timely reports.
- Recommend corrective actions to improve crop health and reduce losses.
- Train field teams on safe chemical handling, personal protective equipment (PPE), and sanitation procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and certification processes.
- Ensure proper storage and inventory control of agrochemicals and application equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for crop health, yield enhancement, and farm sustainability.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, Plant Protection, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in crop protection, pest management, or plantation operations.
- Strong knowledge of phytosanitary standards, pest/disease identification, and IPM practices.
- Ability to lead and supervise field teams effectively.
- Competence in record keeping, reporting, and using basic farm management tools.
- Understanding of agrochemical safety, PPE use, and environmental regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
