Job Description

• The role is responsible for the loading and discharging of containers and cargoes from the vessel/barge at the quay area within the terminal.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
MHC Operation:

• Starts up the Mobile Harbor Crane (MHC) and positions it for operations based on the instructions from the Shift Supervisor/Lead
• Carries out routine checks on the crane to ensure that the crane is in good condition for operations and identify any safety issues
• Sets up the crane and commences crane operations by lifting, moving, and positioning containers in designated locations in a safe and efficient manner
• Monitors the crane stability, load weight, and working conditions of the crane during operations
• Carries out instructions from the vessel supervisor/manager according to the bay plan or work schedule
• Resolves mobile harbor crane operations issues within the control of the operations
• Communicates issues that emerge during crane operations to the MHC Shift Supervisor
• Provides information to the MHC Shift Supervisor for the development of various reports such as crane status and availability, general operations, etc.

Safety & Compliance:

• Adheres to safety requirements (right tools usage, safe working environment) while performing the job task
• Endeavour to keep the mobile harbor crane cabin environment clean always
• Attends weekly toolbox meeting
• Utilizes personal protective equipment in work areas at all time.

Teamwork & Performance:

• Works with team to complete designated tasks
• Takes ownership of own performance using the TICT performance management system
• Attends and maximizes training recommended by Supervisors and HR to close performance & development gaps
• Supports the induction of new team members into the Unit
• Performs any other duties as required by the business.

Minimum Educational Qualifications / Certifications / Years of Experience

• Minimum of OND in any field
• MHC Operators License
• Class G driver’s license from FRSC
• Minimum of 1 years of experience in a relevant field or industry.
