The ideal candidate must blend strong banking experience, retail financial services expertise, and a deep understanding of digital innovation.
You must have a proven track record of leading within regulated environments, launching or scaling digital banking initiatives, and building trusted relationships with regulators and stakeholders.Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the bank’s overall strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Lead the innovation and delivery of digital banking products focused on customer experience, convenience, and financial inclusion.
  • Oversee end-to-end retail banking operations including account acquisition, deposits, payments, and lending through digital channels.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing leadership and operations team, fostering a culture of agility, compliance, and excellence.
  • Spearhead customer acquisition strategies through digital marketing, partnerships, and customer engagement platforms.
  • Strengthen relationships with regulators (CBN, NDIC) and ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and governance standards.
  • Manage financial planning, budget control, and capital efficiency to achieve sustainable profitability.
  • Leverage data analytics, AI, and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiency and personalized banking experiences.
  • Champion the bank’s brand development and public image across the Nigerian market and beyond.
  • Identify new market opportunities and drive expansion strategies.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or related fields.
  • MBA or Executive MBA preferred.
  • Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Chartered Banker, or equivalent professional certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years’ banking experience, with at least 7 years in executive leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation initiatives within a licensed financial institution.
  • Strong expertise in retail banking, digital banking operations, and customer acquisition.
  • Solid understanding of Nigerian banking regulations and financial compliance standards.
  • Previous experience in a start-up, greenfield banking project, or scaling digital products is highly desirable.
  • Highly connected within the banking, fintech, and regulatory ecosystems in Nigeria and across Africa.
  • Data-driven decision-maker with a strong technology appreciation and a customer-first mindset.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
