Requirements
Academics:

  • OND or HND in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Controls Automation Engineering or any other relevant discipline.
  • Certificate from School of basic Instrumentation will be an added advantage.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Oil & gas operation as a PACO

Skills

  • Must possess competence No.1 plus at least one of Nos. 2 – 5 ***

General instrumentation:

  • Ability to read drawings – PEFS, PSFS, C&E, FLD, loop diagrams, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of process instrumentation – major process parameters measured, types of sensors/instruments, principles of measurement, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of loop components – IS barriers, surge protectors, FISCO, I/O modules
  • Sound knowledge of communication protocols – HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc
  • Sound knowledge of Fire & Gas devices – different types of detectors, principles of operation, Logic Solvers, Output Devices, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of operation and maintenance of valves – control valves, SDVs, BDVs, solenoid valves, Actuators, positioners, position transmitters, air regulators, different types of manual valves, etc.
  • Skilled in calibration of switches and transmitters (pressure, differential pressure, level, temperature, flow, and absolute pressure)
  • Skilled in maintenance of valves (control valves, ESDVs, MOVs, manual valves), positioners, I/P converters
  • Skilled in use of handheld communication devices (Field Communicator, Interrogator, Fieldmate, NI Fieldbus Communicator, FB Tool, Oscilloscope, etc.)

Yokogawa DCS/SIS engineering and maintenance:

  • Installation and configuration of Foundation Fieldbus devices using the Engineering Workstation (EWS)
  • Engineering of systems using the SIS EWS
  • Installation and configuration of HART devices
  • Engineering of CentumVP software, including navigation and editing of function blocks
  • Use of Yokogawa AMS to manage field devices
  • Navigation, configuration, and logic modification of ProSafe safety systems using ProSafe-PLC 4-mation & ProSafe-RS Workbench
  • Ability to work on PraSafe SLS – Logic navigation using FLD, sound knowledge of SLS modules

Allen Bradley Systems engineering and maintenance:

  • Sound knowledge (including engineering and maintenance) of ControlLogix, RSLogix5000, RSLogix500
  • Installation and configuration of field devices
  • Engineering and maintenance of Allen Bradley PLCs using RSLogix5000, RSLogix500, RSFieldbus and FactoryTalk software
  • Installation and configuration of PLCs, I/O modules, and other associated components
  • Programming techniques, program upload/download to PLCs
  • HMI engineering, PanelView, etc.
  • Connection and use of laptop for PLC engineering

SMAR Systems engineering and maintenance:

  • Installation and configuration of Foundation Fieldbus devices
  • Engineering of System 302 software, including navigation, editing of function blocks
  • Installation and configuration of PLCs, I/O modules and other associated components
  • Programming techniques, program upload/download to PLCs
  • System302 HMI engineering, ProccessView, etc
  • Connection and use of laptop for PLC engineering

DeltaV DCS engineering and maintenance:

  • Installation and configuration of Foundation Fieldbus devices using EWS
  • Engineering of DeltaV software, including navigation and editing of function blocks
  • Installation and configuration of DCS controllers and I/O modules
  • HMI graphics modification

Soft Skills (Added advantage):

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting of safety critical equipment and control/safeguarding system.
  • Supporting the production staff in maintaining facilities.
  • Assist the maintenance team to cope with high number of activities to sustain asset integrity/equipment availability.
  • Comply with HSE practises and procedures.
  • Assist to ensure Technical Integrity and safe operation of new process & utility system to achieve the facility’s objectives.
  • Identify any area of new facilities requiring Change Control and document the change proposal.
  • Provide specification for critical spare/or replacement with vendor details (e.g. Hard disc for compressor control, etc)
  • Review operating/maintenance procedure under current reality and propose changes.
  • Develop (Maintenance Job Routines) MJRs/maintenance procedures and work packs.
  • Identify vendor support requirement for equipment maintenance.
  • Provide technical support in repairing outstanding mal-functioning equipment (e.g. crude transfer pumps etc)
  • Liaison with OEMs for trouble shooting, spare parts, field technical supports etc.
  • Support the maintenance (operation) team in all trouble shooting exercises.
  • Carryout maintenance routine activities in line with company standards, local and international standards.
  • Participate in equipment failure RCA (Root Cause Analysis), investigation and improvement initiatives.
  • Participation in MFI (Management Facility Inspections) and HSE meetings
  • Close out personal MFI actions.

Work Cycle:

  • The work location is Swamp-field based (Soku, Rivers State) accessible via the Helicopter.
  • Work base location is Port Harcourt. You may be required to attend courses in  IA PHC or other PHC locations as advised as well as other official assignments
  • The job activity period is daily on 12-hour (7am to7pm) routine over a 21-day period.
  • There is a standard 3weeks on and 3weeks off schedule.
  • The successful candidate will manage own absences with his/her contractor for suitable qualified covers..
  • Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need may arises.

Method of Application

Location: Soku, Rivers

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assess health of electrical equipment, identify equipment deviation outside normal operating parameters.
  • Participate in review of maintenance job routines and preparation of work method statements
  • Participate in job hazard analysis / prepare job risk assessment
  • Identify appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with the activity.
  • Gather appropriate documentation and prepare Permit to work.
  • Identify and stage materials, equipment spares and tools for equipment maintenance.
  • Carryout isolation of energy source in preparation for maintenance work
  • Execute routine maintenance activities in line with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze electrical equipment faults using diagnostic tools, test devices and measuring instruments.
  • Support OEM field service representatives during execution of major equipment maintenance activities.
  • Conduct proper housekeeping and restore work site to a safe state after job completion.
  • Document relevant logbook with performance data post maintenance work and update equipment maintenance records
  • Support reviews of operating/maintenance procedure and propose changes.
  • Support planning of electrical scope of major / turnaround / milestone maintenance activities.
  • Participate in equipment failure investigation (root cause analysis) and proffer improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with HSE practices and procedures.
  • Participate in HSE meetings and site safety campaigns
  • Close out all other assigned actions in line with audit findings.

Work Cycle:

  • The work location is field based in swamp terrain located in Soku, Rivers State.

Academic Qualification
Possession of any of the following Qualifications:

  • OND in Engineering from accredited polytechnics or Monotechnic
  • Full Technological Certificate (FTC) Advance Technician Diploma
  • Advanced NABTEB in Engineering-Related subjects.
  • City & Guilds Diploma / Advanced Diploma
  • Professional certificate in Engineering from Polytechnics or specialized institutions
  • Age Not Applicable

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant professional engineering experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
  • A 5) year work experience as Electrical Technician within Renaissance East Asset operations will be an added advantage.

Skills:
Must possess the following competences:

Electrical Safety:

  • Knowledge of electrical safety, use and application of electrical safety rules, identification, and mitigation of hazards.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards as well as electrical protection and control systems.
  • Methods of repair of Ex-equipment, including limitations of what can or cannot be repaired and certification implications and requirements.

Maintenance of Electrical Equipment:

  • Identify the various electrical low voltage (LV) equipment – generators, motors, lighting, heat tracing, switchgear, small transformers, UPS and batteries).
  • Identify the various high voltage (HV) equipment – generators, motors, large transformers, switchgear)
  • Evaluate and interpret equipment performance and integrity data
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions and take appropriate corrective action on LV / HV equipment
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose common faults on LV / HV equipment
  • Perform servicing and repair in line with recognized procedures and standards
  • Apply approved procedures and standards for disassembly and reassembly of electrical equipment
  • Use of the appropriate tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of the various types of condition monitoring activities and diagnostic tools
  • Provide support during equipment shutdown, start up, isolation and re-instatement as part of the maintenance process

Other Electrical Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance of the earthing and lighting system
  • Carryout lighting system maintenance around the Facility.
  • Knowledge of maintenance routines on cathodic protection systems

General:

  • Knowledge of basic electrical tools and workshop machinery.
  • Knowledge of area classification layouts and electrical equipment for hazardous areas
  • Interpret information contained in the various types of electrical drawings.
