Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years relevant professional engineering experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
Skills
Must possess the following competences
- Maintenance of Rotating Equipment – Gas & Diesel Engines, Gas Turbines, Reciprocating & Centrifugal Pumps, Gas Compressors, Air Compressors, Blowers etc.
- Identify the various types of pumps, engines, compressors and other rotating equipment within the oil and gas industry
- Evaluate and interpret equipment performance and integrity data
- Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions and take appropriate corrective action
- Troubleshoot and diagnose common faults on rotating equipment
- Perform servicing and repair in line with recognized procedures and standards
- Apply approved procedures and standards for disassembly and reassembly of rotating equipment components.
- Carryout major inspection and overhaul of equipment
- Use of the appropriate tools and equipment · Knowledge of the various types of condition monitoring activities and diagnostic tools · Provide support during equipment shutdown, start up, isolation and re-instatement as part of the maintenance process
Static Equipment Maintenance
- Identify the various types of static equipment within the oil and gas industry
- Provide support during inspection activities i.e removal and re-instatement of static equipment · Carryout inspection of filters/strainers and valves
General
- Knowledge of basic mechanical tools and workshop machinery.
- Interpret machinery / equipment information from drawings, diagrams and technical manuals · Knowledge of alignment of shafts, couplings, belts and pulleys on equipment
Soft Skill (Added advantage)
- Computer literate, ability to perform basic computer related activities · Competent user of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of worksite hazard management and permit to work systems · Effective team player and ability to work in multidisciplinary team · Good communication & presentation skills
- Good time management and organizational skills · Ability to adapt promptly to change

Method of Application
Roles and Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting of safety critical equipment and control/safeguarding system
- Supporting production staff in maintaining facilities
- Assist maintenance team with high-volume tasks to sustain asset integrity/equipment availability
- Comply with HSE practices and procedures
- Assist in ensuring technical integrity and safe operation of new systems
- Identify areas requiring change control and document proposals
- Provide specification for critical spares/replacements with vendor details
- Review operating/maintenance procedures and propose updates
- Develop Maintenance Job Routines (MJRs), procedures, and work packs
- Identify vendor support requirements for equipment maintenance
- Provide technical support for malfunctioning equipment
- Liaise with OEMs for troubleshooting, spares, and field support
- Support troubleshooting by the operations/maintenance team
- Execute routine maintenance in line with local/international standards
- Participate in equipment failure investigations (RCA) and improvement initiatives
- Participate in Management Facility Inspections (MFIs) and HSE meetings
- Close out personal MFI actions
Work Cycle
- The work location is field-based in swamp terrain located in Soku, Rivers State
- Work is Port Harcourt-based; candidate may attend courses at IA PHC or other PHC locations, and other official assignments
- Job activity is a 12-hour daily routine (7:00 am to 7:00 pm) over a 21-day period
- Standard schedule: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off
- Candidate will manage own absences with contractor, ensuring suitable qualified cover
- Personnel may be required to work extended hours as need arises
Requirements
Academics:
- OND or HND in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Controls Automation Engineering or any other relevant discipline
- Certificate from School of Basic Instrumentation will be an added advantage
Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Asset Operations as a PACO Technician
Skills:
Must possess Competence No. 1 plus at least one of Nos. 2 – 5
General Instrumentation:
- Ability to read drawings – PEFS, PSFS, C&E, FLD, loop diagrams, etc.
- Sound knowledge of process instrumentation – major process parameters measured, types of sensors/instruments, principles of measurement, etc.
- Sound knowledge of loop components – IS barriers, surge protectors, FISCO, I/O modules
- Sound knowledge of communication protocols – HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc.
- Sound knowledge of Fire & Gas devices – types of detectors, principles of operation, Logic Solvers, Output Devices
- Sound knowledge of operation and maintenance of valves – control valves, SDVs, BDVs, solenoid valves, actuators, positioners, transmitters, air regulators, etc.
- Skilled in calibration of switches and transmitters (pressure, differential pressure, level, temperature, flow, and absolute pressure)
- Skilled in maintenance of valves (control valves, ESDVs, MOVs, manual valves), positioners, I/P converters
- Skilled in use of handheld communication devices (Field Communicator, Interrogator, Fieldmate, NI Fieldbus Communicator, FB Tool, Oscilloscope, etc.)
Yokogawa DCS/SIS Engineering and Maintenance:
- Installation/configuration of Foundation Fieldbus & HART devices using Engineering Workstation (EWS)
- Engineering of CentumVP and SIS systems
- Use of Yokogawa AMS
- Navigation/configuration of ProSafe safety systems using ProSafe-PLC 4-mation & ProSafe-RS
- Logic navigation using FLD; sound knowledge of SLS modules
Allen Bradley Systems Engineering and Maintenance:
- Engineering and maintenance of ControlLogix, RSLogix5000, RSLogix500
- Installation/configuration of PLCs, I/O modules, and field devices
- Programming and HMI engineering (PanelView, FactoryTalk)
- Connection and use of laptop for PLC engineering
SMAR Systems Engineering and Maintenance:
- Engineering of System302 software
- Installation/configuration of Foundation Fieldbus devices and PLCs
- Programming techniques, ProccessView HMI, and laptop interface
DeltaV DCS Engineering and Maintenance:
- Installation/configuration of Foundation Fieldbus devices using EWS
- Engineering of DeltaV software – function block editing, DCS controllers, I/O modules
- HMI graphics modification
