Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and experiencedÂAccountantÂto join our retail store in Ikeja.Â
- The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations while supporting the overall financial health of our retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and complete accounting cycle activities
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies
- Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment of salaries
- Handle tax compliance and prepare necessary documentation for tax filings
- Develop and maintain budgets in collaboration with department heads
- Monitor inventory costs and retail margins
- Generate financial analysis reports to support management decision-making
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls
- Coordinate with external auditors during audit periods
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a retail environment
- Experience in a retail store is important
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards
- Experience with accounting software and point-of-sale systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with inventory accounting and retail financial operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages.
