We are looking for a TikTok Lead who will take full ownership of Pulse’s TikTok presence and transform it into one of the most engaging channels in Africa. This role combines creative vision, hands-on production, and sharp audience instincts.

As TikTok Lead, you will be the heartbeat of Pulse’s short-form video strategy — defining how we present ourselves on TikTok, producing standout content, and ensuring our channel resonates directly with Africa’s young and fast-paced audiences.

This is not a backseat role. We’re looking for someone who is well-versed in TikTok culture, can identify trends before they take off, and has the creativity to transform them into fresh, original content that only Pulse can deliver.

You’ll work closely with our social, video, and editorial teams to turn stories, entertainment, and cultural moments into TikToks that spark conversations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Create and manage a TikTok-first strategy that drives growth and cultural relevance for Pulse.
  • Build a consistent content calendar that combines daily trends with Pulse-original formats.
  • Work with the Head of Social Content to ensure TikTok aligns with Pulse’s wider social strategy.

Content Creation

  • Ideate, script, shoot, edit, and publish TikToks — with speed and creative flair.
  • Collaborate with videographers, designers, and editors for higher-production content.
  • Develop repeatable, signature formats that build loyalty with followers
  • Be the creative driver — and optionally, an on-camera presence — for the channel.

Community & Engagement

  • Define and maintain Pulse’s TikTok tone of voice — bold, witty, and youth-focused.
  • Actively engage in comments, duets, and conversations to foster a sense of community.
  • Partner with creators, influencers, and cultural figures to amplify Pulse’s reach.

Performance & Growth

  • Track TikTok analytics to learn what works and sharpen future content.
  • Experiment with posting times, hooks, and formats to maximise reach.
  • Share insights with the wider social and growth team to drive cross-channel learning and growth.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years’ experience building TikTok (or similar short-form video) channels.
  • Deep understanding of TikTok culture, algorithm dynamics, and youth trends.
  • Proven track record of creating videos that perform at scale.
  • Video editing skills (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar).
  • Creative instincts — bold ideas, quick thinking, and strong storytelling.
  • Comfortable both in front of and behind the camera.
  • Ability to use analytics to guide decision-making.
  • Bonus: experience with influencer collaboration, branded content, or entertainment/media.

Method of Application

We are looking for a Creator Lead to shape and manage Pulse’s creator strategy. This role combines creative thinking, talent partnerships, and production oversight.

The Creator Lead will be responsible for scouting and managing creators, developing original creator-led formats, and ensuring the smooth execution of projects. You’ll act as both a creative strategist (spotting trends, imagining collabs, designing new shows) and a practical manager (negotiating deals, coordinating production, and tracking results).

This role is for someone who lives within the creator economy, understands what drives culture, and can leverage that knowledge into shows, collaborations, and partnerships that define Pulse as the home of creator-driven content in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Creator Relationships & Partnerships

  • Build and manage strong relationships with creators and influencers across multiple niches.
  • Scout, onboard, and nurture new talent into Pulse’s creator network.
  • Negotiate contracts, fees, and deliverables with creators and their representatives to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Act as the main liaison between Pulse and creators for all collaborations.

Concept & Format Development

  • Develop and pitch new creator-led formats, shows, and series for Pulse platforms.
  • Identify smart collaboration opportunities with trending creators and cultural moments.
  • Work closely with creators to design concepts that feel authentic to their style while aligning with Pulse’s voice.
  • Package ideas into concepts that can be shared internally and externally.

Production Oversight

  • Partner with the Head of Production to schedule and execute creator-led projects.
  • Coordinate shoots, logistics, and technical needs for creator collabs.
  • Ensure that final outputs are polished, optimised for social media, and meet platform-specific standards.
  • Work with videographers, editors, and designers to bring concepts to life.

Culture & Growth

  • Stay ahead of creator trends, youth culture, and social platforms.
  • Position Pulse as the most creator-friendly media brand in Africa.
  • Collaborate with Social and Growth teams to amplify creator-led content and measure its impact.
  • Represent Pulse in creator communities, events, and networks.

Reporting & Insights

  • Track creator project performance and report on reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Provide insights on which formats, creators, and collaborations drive the strongest results.
  • Maintain an up-to-date pipeline of creators and collaboration opportunities.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years’ experience in creator management, influencer marketing, or content strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of the African creator economy with established networks.
  • Proven ability to conceptualise new content formats and manage them end-to-end.
  • Negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with content production workflows.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Bonus: prior experience as a creator or hands-on production/editing work
