Job Description
- We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter to join our team and support the construction, installation, and upkeep of structural metal frameworks and components.
- In this role, you will work from blueprints and technical drawings to correctly measure, align, and secure parts for use in construction and manufacturing projects. Your skills will be vital in maintaining the safety and stability of buildings, bridges, ships, and other large-scale structures.
- The right candidate will have solid, hands-on expertise in metal fabrication, welding, and the operation of both hand and power tools. Strong ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings, follow safety standards, and work effectively on your own or with a team is required. Key qualities include accuracy, physical endurance, and dedication to high-quality workmanship.
- Primary responsibilities involve cutting and measuring materials to precise dimensions, assembling and fitting structural frameworks, and carrying out quality inspections to meet project requirements.
- You will also ensure proper care of tools and equipment, comply with safety guidelines, and collaborate closely with engineers, welders, and other professionals to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Measure, cut, and shape metal components to required dimensions
- Assemble and install structural frameworks and supports
- Perform welding, bolting, and riveting as needed
- Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in safe condition
- Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other team members
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations
- Report any issues or defects to supervisors
- Assist with the transportation and positioning of heavy materials
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred with 8-15 years experience.
- Proven experience as a structural fitter or similar role
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Basic welding and metal fabrication skills
- Physical stamina and ability to work at heights or in confined spaces
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Flexibility to work varied hours and travel to job sites as needed.
