Role Purpose
- To position Kaduna Electric at the forefront of evolving energy technologies, including advanced distribution automation and renewable energy integration-ensuring a resilient, efficient and innovative electricity distribution system.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees all company technical products and services activities towards revenue generation, covering but not limited to technical, engineering, and maintenance functions
- Provide industry trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth, not limited to local perspectives but with strong awareness of Global perspectives
- Develop technical efficiency and awareness, polices and standards that are aimed at ensuring optimal utilization of the company/departmental resources for the overall achievement of the company’s set long-term and periodic objectives;
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all technical functions and commitments of the company
- Take charge of the delivery of the entire technical and operational functions (design, engineering, tendering, project management) of distribution construction projects, and utility system and other large construction projects that have significant electrical engineering components
- All staff of the Technical Department are evaluated against agreed performance objectives at pre-defined periods set by the HR function
- Ensure proper establishment, documentation, implementation, control and maintenance of Quality, Cost, Labour and Time Management Systems
- Ensure coordination and resolution of issues amongst departments relating to projects, cash flow, contracts and sub-contracts
- Lead the Technical Department to effectively and efficiently deliver all projects with constant improvement of quality, reliability, performance, profitability and reputation of the company, keeping in view customer needs and satisfaction, of course meeting statutory and regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous reduction in Technical Losses, SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIFI metrics
- Oversee compliance with SBT, PIP, and operational standards across the 33KV and 11kV network
- Interface with key regulators and stakeholders: TCN, NEMSA, NERC, etc.
- Ensure efficient energy dispatch, grid reliability, and performance optimization
- Lead the development of technical policies, standards, and operational KPIs
Required Competencies
- Deep expertise in distribution network optimization, renewable integration, and grid automation (SCADA/GIS)
- Proven ability to navigate NERC, TCN, and NEMSA compliance frameworks
- Track record of significantly reducing SAIDI/SAIFI in previous roles
- Experience deploying smart grid/AMI technologies in emerging markets Crisis management in grid operations
- Cross-functional collaboration
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering
- Master’s Degree in related fields and any additional advanced training relating to Power Systems Management is highly desirable
Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years in the utility/power sector, with 8+ years in a Senior Technical leadership role.
Certifications:
- Membership of NSE, COREN, IEE (required); Additional certifications in Project Management (PMP/PRINCE2) are an advantage.

Method of Application
Role Purpose
- Ensures proper monitoring and handling of all aspects of Kaduna Electric’s legal affairs, especially the potentially litigious ones in such a manner that the interest of the Company is not jeopardized.
- The job holder among others functions, will ensure proficient collection and assembling of evidence along with supporting documents in relation to any issues of disputes involving the Company before the Court, NERC Forum or Tribunals.
- The job holder shall use their best endeavor to ensure speedy resolution of Company’s disputes using Alternative Dispute Resolution skills and other less expensive methods to resolve disputes.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and coordinate dispute resolution appointments and meetings with aggrieved Customers and litigants
- Ensure compliance with Company Laws, Regulations and Policies in order to prevent avoidable disputes, and sanctions.
- Proficient vetting of organizational policies, contracts and MOUs taking into consideration the legal implications and potentially litigious elements thereof.
- Put measures in place to prevent or manage negative legal fallouts from contracts with third parties.
- Work in concert with Company’s external solicitors to ensure Company’s Court cases and NERC Forum disputes are not lost.
- Attending Court and NERC Forums hearings and sittings.
- Perform any such other functions as may be assigned by the Head, Legal from time to time
Required Competencies
- Legal and corporate advisory knowledge
- Good litigation knowledge as well as contracts.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take instructions and carry them out with little supervision.
- Ability to provide independent advice.
- Commercial Insight & Problem Solving
Education
- LL.B (Hons) degree in Law
- Must have been called to the Nigerian Bar and have license to practice law in Nigeria.
- 5 to 10 post call or years of cognate experience
- A Master’s Degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline would be an added advantage
Experience:
- 5 to 10 post call or years of cognate experience (Power sector experience preferred).
