Summary
- The Logistics Executive is responsible for managing and coordinating all logistics operations including customs clearing, shipment processing, transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
- This role requires hands-on experience in import/export documentation, customs regulations, and the end-to-end supply chain processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities
Customs Clearing & Regulatory Compliance:
- Manage end-to-end customs clearing for imported and exported goods.
- Ensure all shipments are cleared in accordance with customs laws and documentation requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies including Customs, NAFDAC, SON, NESREA, and others to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Prepare and verify accurate shipping and customs documentation (Form M, PAAR, Bill of Lading, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, etc.).
- Monitor tariff classifications, HS codes, and duty payments to avoid penalties or delays.
Logistics Operations:
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, including port-to-warehouse transportation and final distribution.
- Develop and implement efficient logistics procedures to optimize delivery timelines and reduce cost.
- Coordinate with transport companies, shipping lines, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Monitor and ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of goods.
Cost and Risk Management:
- Monitor and manage logistics and clearing costs to ensure budget compliance.
- Minimize exposure to demurrage, storage, or other avoidable fees through proactive planning.
- Ensure timely resolution of any logistics-related issues, including shipment delays and document discrepancies.
Team and Stakeholder Coordination:
- Supervise and train clearing officers, logistics coordinators, and warehouse personnel.
- Coordinate with procurement, sales, warehouse, and finance teams for seamless operations.
- Maintain strong working relationships with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and customs brokers.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Track and report the status of all shipments and clearance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of all logistics transactions, documents, and approvals.
- Prepare regular logistics performance reports and updates for management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5 – 7 years of relevant experience, including customs clearing and general logistics.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian import/export laws and documentation requirements.
- Experience dealing with government agencies (e.g., Customs, NAFDAC, SON, ).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and ERP/logistics software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
