Role Overview
- We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Data Center Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in managing and maintaining data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure the optimal performance, safety, and availability of our data center facilities, working closely with vendors and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage all data center facilities to ensure uptime and operational performance.
- Supervise vendors and service partners during support and maintenance activities.
- Conduct daily checks on temperature, power, telecom, and other critical parameters.
- Maintain optimal environmental conditions including temperature and humidity.
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance for UPS, generators, fire alarms, and other infrastructure.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure proper cable management and cleanliness within the data center.
- Recommend infrastructure enhancements including cabling, access control, CCTV, and environmental controls.
- Maintain awareness of data center Tier level classifications and apply best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in data center operations or infrastructure management.
- Solid knowledge of data center environmental systems (e.g., UPS, HVAC, EMS, fire suppression).
- Strong understanding of cabling infrastructure and Tier classifications.
- Proven experience managing vendors and maintenance contracts.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and risk-assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a mission-critical environment.
- Relevant technical certifications are a plus (e.g., CDCP, CompTIA Server+, Cisco, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Servers (2008/2012 and above).
- Manage VMware ESX and vCenter virtualization technologies, including Blade Servers & Chassis.
- Handle all incidents, service requests, alerts, and drive resolution of P1/P2 escalations.
- Ensure systems are up to date with firmware upgrades and vendor patches.
- Administer Microsoft Clustering, File & Print servers, and Antivirus solutions.
- Conduct proactive server monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Drive compliance by automating housekeeping tasks and optimizing system processes.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate OEM support for timely issue resolution.
- Execute health checks, technology refreshes, and root cause analyses for improved availability.
- Collaborate with auditors to identify and mitigate risks.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve server management and SLA performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ post-NYSC relevant experience in the Telecom or Technology industry.
- Strong expertise in Windows Server administration, VMware virtualization, and Microsoft Clustering.
- Proven experience with Blade Servers, File/Print servers, Antivirus management, and SLA improvements.
- Solid understanding of incident, change, and vendor management processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and automation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
