About the Role:

  • We seek an experienced Managing Editor to lead our 2417 newsroom through Nigeria’s dynamic media landscape.
  • The ideal candidate will combine exceptional editorial judgment with strong leadership to drive journalistic excellence and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all print and digital editorial operations
  • Maintain rigorous editorial standards and deadlines
  • Optimize workflows to improve efficiency
  • Manage and mentor editorial staff
  • Coordinate breaking news coverage
  • Contribute to newsroom strategy and innovation

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years in newspaper/newsroom leadership
  • Proven track record in high-pressure editorial environments
  • Strong network of industry contacts
  • Excellent writing and editing skills (samples required)
  • Experience mentoring and managing teams

KPIs:

  • Timely end accurate delivery of daily newspaper content
  • Minimum of 2 exclusive/feature stories per week coordinated from the newsroom
  • Minimum of 1 investigative/special report monthly curated and supervised
  • Editorial quality score * based on internal reviews
  • Zero missed deadlines for print or digital publishing
  • Staff supervision: weekly feedback and mentoring reports
  • Income generation for the organization

About the Role:

  • Deliver weekly pipeline and revenue reports on time
