Job Description
- Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates. Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting community needs assessments and conducting technical feasibility study for any infrastructure required after the assessment.
- Assist in the preparation of project plans, designs, and technical specifications, bill of quantities and tender documents for each technical quick-impact project identified for the community.
- Assist in overseeing and monitoring quick impact projects, specifically in WASH management and other basic infrastructure such as schools, public health facilities, women’s centers, irrigation systems, markets, streetlights, solar-powered borehole development, etc.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor that the contractors and IOM implementing partners execute projects according to engineering specifications, quality standards and timelines.
- Collect and analyze data on project progress and report findings to the head of Sub- office.
- Follow-up safety protocols and regulations are adhered to on all project sites and report any safety incidents or concerns to the head of the sub-office immediately.
- Liaise with local communities, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to gather feedback and provide updates on projects.
- Facilitate community meetings to discuss project goals, expectations, and gather input for project improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, including challenges and successes, for submission to the head of the sub-office and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of project expenditures, materials used, and labor employed.
- Support the training of local workers in construction techniques and project management to enhance community capabilities.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in in Civil Engineering or a related field with three years of relevant experience or internships in civil engineering, construction
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and methodologies related to infrastructure projects
- Strong computer literacy with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Offices, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Internet Explorer, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator etc. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and other engineering software.
Experience
- Strong understanding of water and small infrastructure projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse and challenging environments.
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Katsina and Zamfara States.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, and other regional, national, and international institutions.
- Experience of working on humanitarian or development issues related to migration and/or human trafficking, preferably within the United Nations Common System and the International Humanitarian Field
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, civil society/NGOs, international organizations and private sector entities.
- Ability to assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of construction projects, ensuring they meet specified guidelines and timelines.
- Capacity to assess data and reports critically, identifying trends and potential areas for improvement in project execution.
- A meticulous approach to ensuring all project specifications and safety regulations are adhered to.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing circumstances and project requirements, particularly in challenging environments
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in support of project and administrative activities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Publisher or SharePoint is an advantage.
- Previous work experience with international organizations and companies would be an advantage.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and data entry.
- Good organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Familiarity with peacebuilding and reconciliation programming is desirable.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing community-based climate adaptation and mitigation plans and livelihoods projects.
- Support workshop facilitation to promote sustainable land management and conservation practices. Support the activities around the promotion of alternative clean cooking energy solutions; Support in leading reforestation and afforestation projects in the field, providing tree seedlings to households, and keeping accurate supporting documents or means of verification of the implementation while ensuring organization standards of consent are taken.
- Support community-led climate vulnerability assessments to identify risks and develop resource-sharing agreements.
- Conduct surveys and interviews to gather data on community livelihoods and the impacts of climate change. Analyze the collected data to inform project planning and implementation
- Facilitate training sessions for community members, youth, and local leaders on climate-smart practices and sustainable resource management.
- Work closely with local organizations, government agencies, and community groups to foster partnerships that enhance project effectiveness and sustainability.
- Participate in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes, including assessing the effectiveness of livelihood strategies and climate adaptation measures. Provide feedback to improve future initiatives.
- Perform any other general administrative duties assigned by the managers.
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma with four years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Environmental Science, climate adaptation, environmental management, Social Sciences, or a related field with two years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of field experience in project support or community engagement.
- Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
