Nursery Teacher (Montessori)

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct class/subject teaching activity in line with approved teaching scheme, plans and policies
  • Monitor learning by students and provide feedback on the appropriateness and completeness of teaching scheme and plans
  • Identify pupils with special learning needs and liaise with the Remedial teacher to develop appropriate remedial responses
  • Maintain discipline in classes, apply approved sanctions for misdemeanors only and escalate all major issues promptly to the Nursery Head.
  • Provide overall pastoral care and oversee the development of individual students
  • Grade students’ tests and examinations
  • Monitor and report on an ongoing basis individual student progress and accomplishments
  • Establish and maintain contact with parents/guardians as necessary to provide feedback on performance and ensure responsiveness to individual students needs

  • Develop and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons aligned with the curriculum.
  • Prepare teaching materials and resources to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on students’ academic and behavioural progress.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture conducive to learning.
  • Identify and support students with different learning needs or challenges.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behaviour.
  • Enforce school policies, values, and behavioural expectations consistently.
  • Promote the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
  • Incorporate technology and innovative methods into teaching practices.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments or examinations.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and parent-teacher meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor\’s Degree in English/Literature or a related field.
  • A teaching qualification and certification (e.g. PGDE, TRCN)
  • Must be IGCSE qualified or have experience preparing students.
  • Must reside within commutable distance of the location.
