Senior Accountant / Financial Controller

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Control & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Lead the preparation and timely submission of financial statements, including:
- Management accounts (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- CBN/Regulatory returns
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and financial performance. Conduct variance analyses and provide actionable insights.
- Prepare accurate cash flow forecasts tsupport liquidity and funding needs.
- Manage tax planning, computation, remittance, and statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, WHT, etc.).
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including CBN guidelines, FIRS requirements, and IFRS standards.
- Establish and maintain robust internal control systems, policies, and procedures.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and tax consultants.
- Ensure proper record-keeping, audit readiness, and risk mitigation.
Portfoli& Credit Oversight (Supporting COO)
- Collaborate with the credit and risk teams tensure quality loan underwriting, sound credit decisioning, and portfolimonitoring.
- Monitor credit performance and analyze delinquencies; support recovery efforts and portfoliremedial actions.
- Conduct periodic loan book and collateral reviews tensure compliance with facility agreements.
- Support the COin credit risk evaluation and monthly risk asset meetings.
Strategic Financial Advisory
- Provide insights and recommendations tsupport the company’s financial strategy, investment decisions, and operational improvements.
- Drive automation and digital transformation in the finance department.
- Track key financial metrics and performance indicators tsupport business goals.
- Assist in capital raising, investor relations, and business expansion strategies when required.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
- Qualified Accountant (ICAN/ACCA) – required
- Minimum of 7–10 years progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a financial services or lending institution
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, tax, audit coordination, and regulatory reporting
- Strong understanding of credit risk, loan operations, and treasury management
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ZohBooks) and advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with Nigerian tax laws and CBN regulatory guidelines
