Role Summary
- The Rotating Equipment Specialist is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of all rotating machinery in upstream oil & gas operations. This includes compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, and other critical rotating assets. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable performance of rotating equipment while driving strategies to improve reliability, extend asset life, and reduce unplanned downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Operations
- Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for rotating equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor performance and efficiency of rotating machinery, recommending corrective actions.
Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
- Diagnose mechanical, vibration, and operational issues affecting rotating equipment.
- Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Support on-site teams during breakdowns, start-ups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
Reliability & Performance Improvement
- Apply reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and condition monitoring techniques.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, or replacements to improve reliability.
- Utilize predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to anticipate failures.
Technical Support & Documentation
- Prepare technical reports, equipment history records, and reliability improvement plans.
- Provide subject matter expertise during FEED, EPC, and commissioning phases of projects.
- Ensure spare parts strategies, inventory optimization, and maintenance records are properly managed.
Compliance & Safety
- Enforce adherence to HSE standards and equipment safety practices.
- Ensure all rotating equipment is operated within defined safety and performance limits.
- Contribute to audits, inspections, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 7 – 10 years’ experience in upstream oil & gas with specific focus on rotating machinery.
- Strong knowledge of compressors, gas/steam turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps.
- Experience with condition monitoring, vibration analysis, and predictive maintenance tools.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO).

- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in reliability and condition monitoring software/tools.
- Technical reporting and documentation skills.
