Job Summary

  • Hartleys, one of the leading retail supermarket stores in Lagos, Nigeria is hiring an Inventory Control Specialist.
  • In this role, you will be the backbone of our stock management; monitoring expiries, reducing waste, and ensuring our shelves are always well-stocked.
  • You will help drive efficiency and accuracy across departments. If you are detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to make an impact, we would love to have you on board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expiry Monitoring: Track product expiry dates, implement proactive measures to reduce losses, and coordinate timely clearance of near-expiry items.
  • SOR (Sale or Return): Oversee and reconcile supplier return agreements, ensuring accurate documentation and timely returns.
  • Perishables Waste Control: Monitor fresh produce, dairy, and other perishables; implement wastage reduction initiatives; and maintain reports for management.
  • Butchery Stock & Recipes: Manage butchery formulas, recipes, and yield tracking to ensure consistency, correct pricing, and minimal shrinkage.
  • Bakery Stock & Recipes: Control bakery raw materials and recipes, ensuring accurate usage and reducing ingredient wastage.
  • Stock Level Tracking: Continuously monitor stock levels across departments, initiate replenishment where needed, and ensure shelves are always optimally stocked.
  • Error Resolution: Investigate and follow up on stock discrepancies, system errors, and supplier-related issues.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on stock status, wastages, expiries, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in finance or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts such as revenue, margins, expenses, and budgeting.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and eagerness to learn.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for nontechnical stakeholders.
